Now, this isn’t a full sized home theater projector so you can’t expect too much brightness from it. The resolution is VGA (854x480) which given the Moto Z’s 2560x1440 resolution sounds a little weak but in my experience it does a better job than you’d think.

If it can’t correct the keystone there’s a manual setting but the adjustments are quite coarse. There’s automatic keystone (makes the projected image square) adjustment when you use it. You get a kickstand which has enough range to allow it to project on a wall or on the ceiling. Speaking of the phone, you can configure it to not show notifications on the projector which is very convenient. Like other mods, you can also check the battery life from the phone. The dial adjusts focus while a button on the back is used to show the battery status.
There’s a power button next to the lens which you long press to turn on, short press to bring up a menu and long press to turn off. The device itself only has two buttons and a dial. It even includes a cut-out for the camera. It's made so you can still use the Z as a phone if you need to. It uses magnets to hold it in place which I assure you, hold it very securely. There are pogo plugs on the back of the projector which mate to connectors on the back of a Moto Z. It’s a pic projector that attaches to the back of a Motorola Moto Z family phone (currently there are 3 compatible Z family phones with presumably more to come). Next up is their Moto Insta-Share Projector. Initially, I was unsure of how much sense a proprietary accessory would make, but Motorola managed to make it work and I loved the SoundBoost. I recently checked out the JBL SoundBoost Speaker Moto Mod.

Verizon is currently offering the LG G5 for $624 retail or $26 per month for 24 months.I’ve been playing with the Motorola Moto Z and some Moto Mod accessories for it. Like the new Lenovo devices, the G5 is offered alongside a number of companion devices that can expand the smartphone’s capabilities. In February, the carrier announced it would carry the new LG G5 device.
The devices will rise the total of modular devices in Verizon’s lineup to three. Though Verizon and Lenovo did not provide an exact launch date or pricing for the devices, they did say pre-orders for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force will open next month. The phones will be released alongside three initial Moto Mods, including the JBL SoundBoost Speaker to provide stereo sound, the Moto Insta-Share Projector that includes up to 70-inch projection and Power Packs from TUMI and Kate Spade New York for up to an additional 22 hours of battery life. The Moto Z will be offered in black/lunar gray and white/fine gold, while the Moto Z Force will just be available in black/lunar gray. The Moto Z Force improves on those specs with a 3,500 mAh battery, 21 mp rear camera and turbo charger that offers 15 hours of battery from 15 minutes of charging. The Moto Z will also feature a 2,600 mAh battery, 13 mp rear-facing camera and turbo charger that offers up to 8 hours of battery from 15 minutes of charging. Both devices will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor and support Verizon’s Advanced Calling with HD Voice. The smartphones will both feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, 32 GB of storage, a 5 mp front camera, USB-C connectivity, a water-repellent coating and a fingerprint reader. “This groundbreaking new modular system will revolutionize the smartphone landscape and Droid brand for years to come.” “We wanted to work with Motorola to introduce something entirely new that would inspire customers to get excited about smartphones again,” Verizon’s vice president of wireless devices Jeff Dietel said.

The packs, called “Moto Mods” will enable a number of functions including movie projection, enhanced audio and longer battery life. Headed by the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force, the new lineup will feature interchangeable “smart backs” that can snap on to the devices to boost and add capabilities. Lenovo on Thursday said it will launch a new modular smartphone line from Motorola this summer exclusively on the Verizon network. LG will soon have company in the modular device space.
